Landslip on Bukit Gasing. 8th.March 2012

A landslip occurred on one of the steeply terraced slope that is part of the roadworks on Gasing Meridian’s development over the evening. A concerned resident contacted me this morning about the landslip.

Isn’t it amazing that despite the Mayor of KL assurance that Ikram is monitoring the earthworks construction, we have this landslip after a prolonged rain last night? In talking to other residents in the area, there have been landslips from the terraced slopes before. This time, the landslip seems larger and much more noticeable.

Residents have asked for a public hearing from DBKL because they fear for their safety. There has been many landslides and landslips around Bukit Gasing. All the major ones have been related to development works. Residents in PJ would have been given a public hearing by MBPJ. However, DBKL will not allow us to know why they consider the steep hill slopes of Bukit Gasing safe. They have continued to deny us any technical reports or conditions that they have imposed on the proposed development.

We pray that we will not face the same dilemma as residents at Medan Damansara. It took a massive landslip in August 2008 before a stop order was issued by DBKL.

Some of the pictures do show signs of erosion along the terraced slopes. We just have to pray for residents safety and hope the Mayor of KL will accept that we have every reason to fear.
