CITY HALL is firm in its stand that a development order (DO) was not granted to Gasing Meridien Sdn Bhd, the developer of Sanctuary Ridge Kuala Lumpur City project in Bukit Gasing.

A legal adviser from City Hall informed The Malay Mail that only two planning approvals were granted to the developers – a Building Plan Approval dated Oct 2, 2007 and Hoarding Work Approval dated Nov 16, 2007.

The spokesman said there were many types of DOs and City Hall had not granted any yet to the developer.

She said that the Selangor government had in 1976 granted a layout approval for the subdivision of land in 1976.

“The developers only recently made an application for the two planning approvals and we granted it to them.”

Lawyer Derek Fernandez, who is representing some 100 residents of Bukit Gasing protesting the hillside development project involving the construction of 71 bungalow lots, had yesterday said City Hall is either lying or being ignorant when it claimed that it had not issued a DO for the development.

The spokesman said Fernandez was entitled to his opinion and they need not reply his statement. The court, the spokesman added, should be the proper avenue for the matter to be discussed.

Mayor Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan said City Hall will not issue any more statements as it would be subjudice as the matter is now in court and would be heard on Apr 23. – By PEARL LEE
