You must have seen the cutting of trees and earthworks taking place in our beloved Bukit Gasing. Building on steep hill slopes of Bukit Gasing threatens our lives and homes. We have repeatedly voiced our concerns; yet earthworks have begun even though our case is pending in the Court of Appeal. We need to get together to once again show that we are not prepared to face the dilemma of the residents of Medan Damansara nor do we want to risk the disaster faced by the people of Bkt. Antarabangsa. Your support is needed!! We must unite to protect our lives, our families and our properties.

A WOMAN and her niece were killed in a landslide that destroyed their house in Kampung Terusan in the wee hours of the morning yesterday.
The bodies of Faridah Jompah, 40, and her 8-year-old niece, Nisdawati Jamal, were found buried in the house after nine hours of searching.
They and five other family members, including a toddler, were fast asleep when the incident occurred at 1.30am.
Faridah’s 24-year-old son, Suhardi Masdar, said he was sleeping in the living room when he was awakened by the “sound of a huge crash” coming from the hill just behind the house.
“A few seconds later, I felt the house shaking and immediately woke the rest.”
Suhardi said the incident happened so quickly that his mother and cousin could not escape in time. Faridah’s husband, Masdar Naning, 50, suffered a broken leg when he was swept away by the earth.
Suhardi and three others in the house — his sister Mariam, brother Mohd Azizul, 15, and 4-month-old Nurasheema Humaira Abd Rashid — escaped unhurt.
It was learnt that the landslide took place following a continuous downpour since Friday night.
District Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Apandi Mahmod said the department received a distress call at 2.53am and deployed eight firemen to the scene.
“When we arrived, several villagers were already there to help search for the missing victims.
“The landslide buried nearly half the house, making it difficult to find the victims,” he said, adding that the search and rescue operation also involved Civil Defence Department personnel.
Apandi said the body of Nisdawati was retrieved at 10.55am while Faridah’s was discovered 15 minutes later.

Our struggle goes on to prevent the development on Bukit Gasing by Gasing Meridian Sdn Bhd. The struggle has gone on for a very long time. Initially, Gasing Meridian took objection to the High Court granting us ” leave ” for our case to be heard. At the hearing in the High Court, Kuala Lumpur Gasing Meridian lost. They then appealed to the Court of Appeal and later to the Federal Court and lost at both levels.
Subsequently, actual hearings of the merits of our case at High Court in were held in June and July 2010. The High Court ruled against us on 6th September 2010. We appealed against the High Court ruling to the Court of Appeal.
At the hearing in the Court of Appeal held on 12th December, 2011, Gasing Meridian wanted to include a new submission into our case, claiming that 18 purchasers who had allegedly had bought lots from them and Court of Appeal has to consider this new fact . This issue is fixed for hearing at the Court of Appeal, Putrajaya this Thursday, 9th February 2012.
The merits of our appeal proper will be heard by the Cort of Appeal, Putrajaya on Tuesday, 6th March 2012.
Although the appeal proper has not been heard as yet, Gasing Meridian has already commenced cutting down trees and and making roads on Bukit Gasing. You can see the development at the beginning of Pantai Dalam area.
We appreciate all the support residents have given to the struggle to prevent the development of Bukit Gasing. We must continue to make every effort. We appeal to all to attend the two hearings at the Court of Appeal. Please attend to show your support.
